Day 3: A Rant About Microaggressions
Think before you joke.
My first draft was a rambling mess. So here goes attempt # 2.
YouTuber SWOOP exposed former friend and fellow YouTuber Glam&Gore, a.k.a. Mykie, for passive aggressive sentiments towards minority groups.
I’m not going to get into the details; you can watch her vid here.
But it just makes me wonder… why do some white people so badly want to be victims of oppression based on the color of their skin?
Why do cisgendered straight people so badly want to be oppressed because of their gender and orientation?
And if that’s not the case, please, explain it.
Because historically, white cisgender straight people are not systemically oppressed. If they are, it’s not because of those 3 traits. It never has been.
Oh, and discrimination on a case by case DOES NOT equate to systemic oppression.
This is not a competition. Stop trying to usurp other people’s struggles.
Anyway, rant over. Stay healthy, stay hydrated, and resist the urge to become an offensive comedian.
Edit: Sometimes if you tell a joke and no one laughs, it’s not because they’re easily offended. It’s because you’re not as funny as you think you are. You are not Dave Chapelle.
